Join Davison Travelers on April 10th as we tour some of Detroit’s Treasured destinations. Our first stop will take us to the Parade Company. Go behind the scenes to see what it takes to put on America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The Parade Company has a 200,000-square-foot warehouse of floats, the world’s largest collection of antique papier-mâché Big Heads, and a costume shop housing over 3,000 custom-designed costumes. Once we’re done with the tour, we’ll break for lunch and head to Detroit’s MexicanTown in Southwest Detroit. There are numerous Mexican restaurants down Bagley St, a Mexican bakery, and Xochi’s Gift Shop. Now it’s time to see where the automotive industry was born in Detroit. The final stop takes us to the Piquette Ave Plant (Birthplace of the Model-T). See Henry Ford’s 1908 office and a recreated “Secret Experimental Room” on the third floor where the Model T was designed and built. Discover over 65 rare automobiles, including early Ford “Letter” cars (Models A through S), Model T conversions, Model T number 220 (carmine red), and competitors like Cadillac, Oldsmobile, and Studebaker. Check out the original 1904 New England-style mill brick building with a functioning 99-year-old freight elevator as well. Everyone should enjoy these Detroit Treasures and you will see we priced it out as such to help fit your budget.
