Join Davison Travelers as we head to Cleveland, OH for a tour that’s literally going to Rock. Our first stop will be to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is a nationally recognized zoo in Cleveland, Ohio, featuring diverse habitats like the African Savannah, Australian Adventure, and the tropical Rainforest (slated to Reopen this Summer), housing over 3,000 animals from 600+ species, including large primate collections, and offering family-friendly amenities.
We will then check-in to our hotel right in the heart of downtown Cleveland (Hampton Inn and Suites Downtown Cleveland). There are many dining options all within walking distance like the Hofbräuhaus, House of Blues, Masthead Brewing Company, Winking Lizard Tavern, Mabel’s BBQ, or Butcher and the Brewer. Lots to choose from. They even have The Jack Casino nearby and Playhouse Square if you want to check out a show. The evening will be on your own to discover downtown Cleveland at your own pace. The next morning enjoy a full breakfast at the hotel before we depart for the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.
The next day, we’ll have a hot breakfast courtesy of our hotel and then it’s off to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (RRHOF) in Cleveland, Ohio, celebrates rock music history with a museum featuring exhibits on inductees and the genre’s evolution, plus an annual induction ceremony honoring influential artists and figures in music, with recent inductees including Jay-Z, Dolly Parton, Eminem, Kate Bush, Missy Elliott, Willie Nelson, and many others from various eras and genres.
We can’t leave Cleveland without making a stop at The Christmas Story House and Museum. The iconic house from A Christmas Story is a major tourist attraction where fans can tour the meticulously restored interior, featuring famous props like the leg lamp and Red Ryder BB gun, with a museum and gift shop across the street offering more memorabilia. While exteriors were filmed in Cleveland, many interiors were shot in a Toronto studio, but the house has been recreated to match the movie’s look, allowing visitors to relive classic scenes like the turkey dinner and soap poisoning.
Finally on our way home, we’ll be stopping at The Original Tony Packo’s on Front Street. You know the one Klinger always talked about on the hit TV show M.A.S.H. We have it set up for a group dinner where you will choose one of their delicious Entrées (Tony Packo’s Famous Roast Beef, Tony Packo’s One of a Kind Hot Dog with your choice of soup or chili, Tony Packo’s Stuffed Cabbage with Kraut, or Chicken Paprikas with Chicken Dumplings). You’ll finish off your meal with Tony Packo’s Famous Strudel (Apple or Cherry).
